There’s nothing more that I can’t relate to than the ever-popular, ever-basic phrase “but first, coffee.” I always liked the idea of having a coffee every morning and using it as the drug that so many do, to get through the day. But honestly, coffee makes me feel like I’m actually on drugs: light headed, shaky, irritable, and hungry. I know, dramatic. (Disclaimer: I’ve never actually taken any drugs of that sort, I just assume that’s what goes down.) I do enjoy the taste now and then, but it’s usually not worth the unfortunate aftermath. Plus, I only drink coffee if it’s basically cream and sugar (hello, frappuccinos!). But that’s dangerous too, because I’m lactose intolerant, so you do the math. And why does it always cost extra for soymilk anyway? These people are literally charging me because I’m different. And I thought this generation was about fighting for equality. Try and explain that to the children…
So yes, I am a smoothie person. And yes, Jamba Juice is my Starbucks. I’m always down for a cold, thick, and luscious treat. Drinking a smoothie is my favorite way to get in my daily fruits (and often vegetables) and it usually leaves me full and energized. I scoured the web in search for some healthy, refreshing, and simple recipes for us both to try! They are pretty too, just as pretty as those—dare I say (sometimes) pretentious—swirly latte art designs, filling your Instagram feed. Now pick your favorite, blend all of the ingredients listed, and BAM! you’ve got a perfect smoothie. Emeril Lagasse style. I got a Nutri Ninja blender for Christmas, and I’ve literally used it everyday since. This explains my current obsession with smoothies; it blends so freakin’ well! (Oh man, is it obnoxiously LOUD though.) So here are some combos that won’t escape my blades. Uh, I’m going to ignore the fact that that sounded borderline murderer-y, lol. On that note, enjoy!
